Your annual ArcGIS Online subscription comes with a set amount of credits you can use for storage, analytics, demographics and lifestyle maps. These are a form of currency for specific cloud-based services. Additional credits can be purchased through your authorised reseller.

When are credits used?
Storage is calculated by the size of features, files, tiles, scenes and vector tiles your organization has stored in ArcGIS Online calculated on an hourly basis.
The credit usage of analysis tools is based on your organization's usage of analytics. The status of credit consumption is updated approximately every 10 minutes.
Credits for tiled imagery storage are calculated based on the size of the image files stored.
Any ArcGIS software that interacts with ArcGIS Online — such as ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Insights or ArcGIS Field Maps — can use credits.
